UNLIKELY COMEBACK NOT ENOUGH

An unlikely comback for the men in red and black tonight as they found themselves down two goals with only two minutes to go.  The outcome seemed inevitable.  BUT--If there is one thing teams across the league are learning--- don't ever count the Warriors out.

The game began with a Red Deer goal from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins only minutes in.  Warriors rookie goalie settled in for the rest of the period turning away the Rebel's for the remainder of the first.  Unable to capitalize on the power play, the Warriors went back to five on five hockey near the twn minute mark.  Big man, Dylan McIlrath let go of a lazer that beat Kuemper to tie it up.

The second period would see another Red Deer goal and the second from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.  Both teams would fire 18 shots on net.  Rebels would lead heading into the second intermission.  The second intermission featured 10 lucky McKids Club members in a "puck hunt".  The ten members all went home with great prizes from game night sponsor, McDonalds.

The third period had every person in the arena on the edge of their seat.  Starting off with a goal from Red Deer's Weller, the Warriors would find themselves two goals down.  Only seconds later, Warriors only goal scorer of the night faced off against Rebel Petrovic.  The heated tilt sent blue line beast, McIlrath to the dressing room.

With only a few minutes to go, Thomas Frazee banked one home with help from Bast and Edwards.  Still one goal down, the Warriors needed a quick equalizer and would get just that.  Quinton Howden would find the back of the net for a contested goal to tie it up.

To overtime we go.  Brandon Glover kept the tribe in the game by making major saves-- even stopping a Rebel's breakaway in the dieing seconds.  Neither team would get the OT win, taking the game into a shoot out.

First up for the Warriors, Captain Bast.  Bast would not get the Warriors on the board.  Brandon Ferraro would take a go at Glover, but would not find the net.  Next up, Quinton Howden who was also stopped by Kuemper.  Coetzee winded around Brandon Glover to get the game winner.  Thomas Frazee would have the final attempt to continue on--- but would go high and end the game with an SO loss.

The Warriors are still in 8th place, one point behind PA and only 3 ahead of the Broncos.  The Warriors head out on their US road trip Monday.
