Warriors pick up one point over weekend… Moose Jaw spent their weekend in Alberta, the trip started Friday night in Edmonton with a 5-1 loss to Oil Kings. Brayden Point scored the lone Warrior goal, Michael St. Croix had a hat trick for Edmonton and T.J. Foster had three assists. Moose Jaw’s power play was 0-for-6 while the penalty kill was 2-for-5.
Saturday night they were in Lethbridge for the first time this year, despite leading late in the third the Warriors fell 4-3 in overtime. Sam Fioretti, Justin Kirsch, and Tanner Eberle had a goal each; Travis Brown had three assists; Justin Paulic made 35 saves in the loss. Jaimen Yakubowski scored the game winner for the Hurricanes; Russell Maxwell had two assists; Ty Rimmer made 42 saves in the win. The Warriors power play was 2-for-8 while the penalty kill was 3-for-4.
V Lethbridge, Wednesday… Wednesday will be the second meeting of the season between the Warriors and Hurricanes and the first at Mosaic Place. Travis Brown leads the tribe with three assists against Lethbridge; Sam Fioretti, Justin Kirsch, and Tanner Eberle have one goal each; Morgan Rielly, Andrew Johnson, and Brayden Point have one assist each. Russell Maxwell leads the Hurricanes with two assists against the Warriors; Spencer Galbraith, Sam Mckechnie, Jamal Watson, and Jaimen Yakubowski have one goal each.
@ Prince Albert, Friday & Saturday… This weekend the Warriors will battle the Raiders Friday and Saturday in Prince Albert. These will be the third and fourth meetings of the season, and the second and third time they’ve played in PA. Sam Fioretti leads the tribe with four goals and six points against Prince Albert; Morgan Rielly has five assists; Brayden Point and Tanner Eberle have three points; Daniel Wapple is 1-1 with a 2.50gaa and .923sv%. Chance Braid leads the Raiders with a goal and two points; Riley Guenther, Evan Morden, and Mike Winther have two assists each; Luke Siemens is 1-1 with a 4.15gaa and .850sv%.
v Medicine Hat, Sunday… This will be the first meeting between the Warriors and Tigers since the 2012 WHL Playoffs when Moose Jaw eliminated Medicine Hat in four games in the second. They tied their 2011-12 regular season series posting 2-2 records. Cam Braes led the Warriors with six goals and 13 points against the Tigers; Quinton Howden had two goals and six points; Justin Kirsch leads returning scorers, he had two goals and five points last year; Sam Fioretti had a goal and two points; Travis Brown had two assists. Patrik Parkkonen led Medicine Hat last year with one goal and seven points against the Warriors; Boston Leier had three goals and four points; Curtis Valk had three goals.
Stick It To Cancer Night… Sunday night will be the Moose Jaw Warriors “Stick It To Cancer” night. The initiative was started last year by Assistant Coach Mike Vandenberghe and raised over $16,000. This year the goal is to surpass $20,000, Morgan Rielly special edition shirts and Warriors Cookbook books will go on sale that night for $10 each. Money raised through the “Stick It To Cancer” campaign will go the Moose Jaw Union Hospital to help in the purchase of equipment for breast cancer patients.

Community Appearances… Coming up this week the Moose Jaw Warriors will once again be out in the community. Kendall McFaull will visit the Moose Jaw Union Hospital as part of the KCS Captains Care program, while Brayden Point will help make lunches for schools kids at Hunger in Moose Jaw. Tuesday morning Mike Vandenberghe and Morgan Rielly will be on Global TV’s morning show to talk about Stick It To Cancer.
