Adam Lowry scored a hat trick Saturday leading the Swift Current Broncos to a 7-1 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors.
The Broncos Colby Cave opened the scoring at 7:03 of the first period, just under two minutes later Lowry made it 2-0 with a shorthanded goal.
Ryon Moser extended the Broncos lead to 3-0 early in the second, that was followed by a Lowry power play goal at 9:25 and then an even strength marker from Coda Gordon at 12:56. That spelled the end for Warriors starter goalie Justin Paulic, who allowed five goals on 19 shots, Daniel Wapple took over between the pipes which was also his WHL debut.
Morgan Rielly put Moose Jaw on the board with a later power play goal in the second; in the third Josh Derko and Lowry added more insurance for Swift Current as they went on to hand the Warriors their first loss of the season. Moose Jaw went 1-for-5 on the power play and was 3-for-5 on the penalty kill.
The Warriors are not off until next weekend, Friday they’ll head north to Prince Albert then return home the following night to battle the Brandon Wheat Kings.
