A night after scoring nine goals the Moose Jaw Warriors offence wasn’t able to slide one past Tri City goalie Eric Comrie as the Tribe fell 5-0 at Mosaic Place.
The Warriors outshot the Americans 11-7 in the first period but it was the visitors who found their way onto the scoreboard, Justin Feser bounced a puck past Warrior starter Daniel Wapple for a power play goal at 7:59. Defenceman Clint Filbrandt made it 2-0 on a shot from the Warrior line that ricochets off two players then into the Moose Jaw net.
The Warriors looked to grab momentum in the second period but the Americans had other idea. Feser scored 43 seconds in the period to make it 3-0, chasing Wapple from the game, and putting the teams back against the wall. The Warriors fought to get back into the game, however, goals from Lucas Nickles and Connor Rankin made it 5-0, and it was a hole the tribe could not climb out of as the loss moved their record to 4-4-0-1 on the year.
Tri City goalie Eric Comrie was named first star of the game, making 24 saves to record the shutout; Feser’s two goals earned him second star; Americans steady blueliner Zachary Yuen was third star.
The Warriors will wrap up their current home stand Tuesday night when they host Ryan Murray and the Everett Silvertips at Mosaic Place, catch all the action with James Gallo on Country 100 starting with the PreGame Show at 6:40pm.
