The Moose Jaw Warriors head to Brandon today to kick off a home-and-home series against the Wheat Kings to wrap up their 2012 WHL Pre-Season schedule.
Last weekend the Warriors dropped a pair of games to Swift Current, both by one goal, moving their exhibition record to 1-1-1, while the Wheat Kings split a series against Regina last weekend.
16 year old Brayden Point leads the Warriors in pre-season scoring with three assists; Kendall McFaull, Andrew Johnson, and Josh Uhrich have one goal each; Sam Fioretti, Justin Kirsch, Morgan Rielly, and Kirk Johnson have one assist each.
Highly touted NHL prospect Ryan Pulock leads the Wheat Kings in scoring with a goal and three points and is a +3; second year import Alessio Bertaggia and rookie import Richard Nejezchleb have a goal and two points each; three players have recorded one goal and seven players have one assist.
Looking at the goalies, Moose Jaw’s Justin Paulic is 0-0-1 with a 1.85gaa; Daniel Wapple is 0-1 with a 3.08gaa and .870sv%. Brandon netminder Curtis Honey is 0-1 with a 2.03gaa and .905sv%, while 2011 first round bantam pick Jordan Papirny is 1-0 with a 3.00gaa and .824sv%. Veteran goalies Spencer Tremblay (Moose Jaw) and Corbin Boes (Brandon) haven’t seen the ice so far in the pre-season.
Tonight marks the return of Warriors Hockey on Country 100; Voice of the Warriors James Gallo is live from Westman Place with the Pre-Game Show at 6:25pm. Game 2 of this weekend series is Saturday night at Mosaic Place, tickets are available at the Box Office, the Pre-Game Show with James Gallo, Derek Kletzel, and Marc Smith begins at 6:55pm on Country 100.
