2011-12 Recap… Last season was one to remember for the Moose Jaw Warriors as they posted a 45-10-6-2 record, they won their third East Division title in franchise history, as well they set franchise records for wins (45), home wins (30), and points (98). Cam Braes finished as the teams scoring leader with 41 goals and 82 points, in 30 games with Moose Jaw he had 17 goals and 37 points. James Henry was the teams assist leader with 55, while Cody Beach led in penalty minutes with 229. Eric Arnold was the rookie scoring leader with 13 goals and 32 points, while Travis Brown led all defencemen with 31 points. In the playoffs the Tribe eliminated the Regina Pats in five games in the first round, and then swept Medicine Hat in the second round, the Warriors season came to an end in the Eastern Conference Final where they lost to the eventual league champion Edmonton Oil Kings.
2012 Pre-Season… The Warriors had a successful 2012 WHL Pre-Season as they posted a 3-1-1 record. They posted a pair of wins over Brandon and then went 1-1-1 in three games against Swift Current. Brayden Point led the way offensively with three goals and seven points; Andrew Johnson had three assists and five points; Torrin White, Sam Fioretti, and Morgan Rielly had four points each; Travis Brown had three points; Kendall McFaull, Carter Hansen, Joel Edmundson, Josh Uhrich, Justin Kirsch, and Kirk Johnson had two points each.
2011-12 v. Swift Current… Last season the Moose Jaw Warriors posted a 5-2-0-1 record against Swift Current, they went 4-0 at home and 1-2-0-1 on the road and outscored the Broncos 31-22. These two teams collided three times during the 2012 pre-season; the Warriors won 3-1 on August 28th while the Broncos posted a 2-1 and 3-2 wins on September 7th and 9th.
Justin Kirsch led the tribe against the Broncos last season with three goals and 10 points; Kenton Miller had seven goals and eight points; Cam Braes had four goals and seven points; Cody Beach had six points; Quinton Howden and James Henry had five points each; Travis Brown and Joel Edmundson had four points each; Spencer Tremblay was 1-1-0-1 with a 3.72gaa and .888sv%.
Taylor Vause led the Broncos with four goals and nine points against the Warriors last season; Graham Black and Brad Hoban had seven points each; Coda Gordon had six points; Richard Nedomlel and Reece Scarlett had five points each; Ryan Moser had four points; Adam Lowry and Dalton Reum had three points each; Steven Myland was 0-1 with a 4.46gaa and .867sv%.
2012-13 Roster Breakdown… The Warriors currently have 25 players on their roster; 15 forwards, 8 defencemen, and two goalies. They have three 20 year olds (Kirsch, McFaull, Bourhis), four 19 year olds (Fioretti, Wyton, Edmundson, Jackson), five 18 year olds (A. Johnson, Brooks, Eberle, Rielly, Brown), 10 17 year olds (Zagryadskiy, Hansen, Gore, White, Potomak, K. Johnson, Doucette, Morse, Paulic, Wapple), and three 16 year olds (Uhrich, Point, Warkentine). There are nine players from Saskatchewan, eight from Alberta, four from Manitoba, three from BC, and one import who is from Russia.
Gone, but not forgotten… The Moose Jaw Warriors start this season without several familiar faces and fan favorites, all of whom who have either graduated from the league and attending school or playing professional. Quinton Howden and Dylan McIlrath, who were first round NHL draft picks to Florida and NY Rangers respectively in 2010, have joined the professional ranks. Fan favorite Cody Beach, who was a 2010 5th round pick of St. Louis, is also looking to make the adjustment going from major junior to pro. 2011 overagers Cam Braes and James Henry have both committed to play in the CIS, while Kenton Miller has a free agent tryout in the AHL.
