Warriors Fall 4-1 in Regina

The Moose Jaw Warriors fell behind early and weren’t able to recover Wednesday night in Regina, the Pats scored three power play goals and one shorthanded in a 4-1 win over the Tribe.

The Pats came out firing in the first period and were all over the Warriors throughout the opening frame, and the game. Adam Rossignol opened the scoring midway through the frame on power play, but Moose Jaw goalie Justin Paulic shut the door the rest of the way to keep the Warriors in the game. Paulic made 18 saves to keep the game at 1-0 after one.

It was more of the same in the second period as Regina started fast again with Lane Scheidl scoring on the power play just 41 seconds into the frame. They went up 3-0 later in the period when Morgan Klimchuk broke in on a shorthanded breakaway and beat Paulic for his fourth of the season.

Morgan Rielly responded for Moose Jaw just 24 seconds later on the power play to pull the Warriors within two, but Regina was able to go back in front two minutes later with Klimchuk’s second of the period.

That finished off the scoring for the game as Moose Jaw put up a good fight in the third, but couldn’t break through Matt Hewitt to make the game closer.  Paulic finished with 31 saves on the night, while Hewitt stopped 22-of-23 Warrior shots.  The tribe went 1-for-4 with the man advantage and struggled on the penalty kill with Regina going 3-for-5.

Moose Jaw gets a couple of days to regroup at Mosaic Place before hosting the Portland Winterhawks on Saturday night. The Red Deer Rebels will be in town on Sunday.
