Moose Jaw Warriors General Manager Alan Millar has announced the acquisition of Jordan Messier from the Tri City Americans in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.

Messier, 6’2” 195lbs, is 20 years old and entering his fifth and final year in the WHL.  In six games this year with the Americans he has one goal and three points to go along with his +3 rating and two penalty minutes.

The right winger from Canmore, Alberta has played in 270 games in the WHL, scoring 77 goals and has 163 points and 224 penalty minutes.  He has appeared in 58 playoffs games, scoring 14 goals and has 28 points and 21 penalty minutes.  Messier was the Americans first pick in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft, he was selected in the second round 40th overall, and he’ll make his Warriors debut Saturday October 13th when the tribe hosts Prince Albert.

With the overage deadline coming up on Thursday, the team has released forward Austin Bourhis.  Bourhis has played in four games with the Warriors this season and has one assist and 17 penalty minutes.  The Kipling, Saskatchewan product has played in 117 games in the WHL with Medicine Hat, Prince Albert, and Moose Jaw.
