This was a special trip today. A trip the men and women who call Diversified Services home during the day have looked forward to all year. To them the Warriors are like 'movie stars'. To those men and women who face extremely difficult challenges everyday sometimes, like everyone else, they need a boost. That encouragement came today from 14 Moose Jaw Warriors showed up to play floor hockey, sign some autographs, eat some cake and mingle with the approximately 130 people that rely on the services of Diversified Services everyday. On Tuesday January 17th, all of the people at Diversified Services opened their doors to the Warriors' players to share in their daily experiences and occurrences.
The program itself offers assistance for the men and women of Moose Jaw and area who have varying special needs, skills and abilities. From Monday to Friday, those (approximately) 130 men and women are taken care of by the wonderful, dedicated staff at Diversified. The men and women who attend Diversified are given opportunities to develop their abilities and skills in many different ways. There are opportunities to work, making pallets and crates, in the woodworking shop or crafts and different items for outside clients in the Development Centre. All-in-all these participants are afforded many opportunities to enhance their skills in all facets of the life.
The event was a great experience for the Warriors' players, the staff at Diversified Services and most of all the clients who all call it home five days a week. The floor hockey game was intense with all kinds of action, but there were also plenty of laughs and high fives to go around. That fierce rivalry will be renewed when the Warriors step onto that hallow wood gym floor to face the all-stars of Team Diversified next year.
