Moose Jaw Warrior defenceman Travis Brown is now property of the Chicago Blackhawks, he was taken in the fifth round 149th overall. "It's a really exciting moment for me," said Brown. "Chicago is a great team, I loved watching them when I was growing up. It's an honour to be apart of such a historic team, an original six team."
"It was a great feeling," said Brown, who learned that he was drafted when he got a phone call from Warriors General Manager Alan Millar who was in Pittsburgh for the draft. "There was a lot of help from the Moose Jaw Warriors organization, I couldn't have done it without them."
Now that he's been drafted, Brown says he plans on working hard over the next couple of months to prepare for his first NHL training camp in the fall. "This summer I'll probably going to work a lot on core stability and legs just for the strength aspect of it. At that level everyone's so much stronger and so much faster, core and balance is a huge part of it."
In his rookie season with the Warriors Brown led all defenceman with 24 assists and 31 points. He and Morgan Rielly were the only two from the tribe to get drafted, Rielly was picked fifth overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
