Warriors Crack Ice--- Move into First Place

The Moose Jaw Warriors finished off their three game weekend with a win against the Kootenay Ice. Kootenay came out of the gates strong, scoring only 3:00 minutes into the first. Cody Smuk fought back with help from Jesse Paradis to tie it up. The score remained 1-1 going into the first intermission.

The first intermission had six hopefuls shooting in the Co-operators Break the Bank shoot out. Five contestants will continue on to the next round on October 31st to try win the $25,000 grand prize.

The Ice got on the board first to open the second period with Boomer putting one past Bosch. The Warriors came back with a goal from defensemen, Travis Hamonic to put the Warriors even with the Ice. Jason Bast, the Zeke’s Player of the Month, scored in the dieing seconds of the second to put the Warriors up 3-2 to end the second.

The 2nd Intermission had 4 lucky kids playing “Saucer Shuffleboard”; the winners took home new Warriors hats.

The third period was a very quiet from both teams; as the Warriors held off the Ice’s attempt at any comeback goal. Notable fact: the Warriors only had one penalty the entire game!

Thomas Frazee sealed the Ice’s fate with an empty netter at 19:32 to put the Warriors up 4-2. Molson Stars of tonight’s game were 1st Jason Bast and 3rd Cody Smuk. Hardest Working Warrior went to Spencer Edwards. The Warriors win tonight puts them first place in the Eastern Conference with a 7-4 record.
