Feb 8... Day 1 of the West Coast Trip

How would you pass the time?

After a practice earlier today, the Moose Jaw Warriors said goodbye to the Civic Center and its familiar surroundings, loaded up the bus and headed west.
The Warriors embarked on their annual west coast swing that will see them gone till the 17th.
It starts in Cranbrook, B.C. Tuesday night against the Kootenay Ice, then it’s off to Spokane, Seattle, Everett, Portland, and then wraps up the 16th against Tri-City.
Today we started the trip with a short eight to nine hour ride to Cranbrook.
So again, I ask.... How would you pass the time? For a bus load of hockey players, two coaches, a trainer, and “radio” (that’s me)... We’re about to find out.
Here’s a couple of the thing that I’ll be doing, and I’m everyone else will be.
1.       Read a Book.... I know some of the guys like to put their nose in the books. I’m currently reading Dan Brown’s “The Lost Symbol”, which I’m really enjoying. Brown is known for many books, but main stream media knows him from the “Da Vinci Code” and “Angels & Demons”, which were made into movies. The other book that I brought is “Game of Shadows”, which is about steroids in sports (that one’s already been stolen away by one of the guys), and is a great read
2.       Watch a Movie... This can be broken down into two parts, watching a movie and watching a TV series on DVD. Some of the movies I intend on watching include “Angels & Demons”, “Zombieland”, “Terminator Salvation”, and “Public Enemies”. Show’s that some of the guys watch include “Lost”, “Dexter” (which is GREAT, Smuk has my season 1, Bast has my season 2 and 3), and “One Tree Hill” (I’ve never seen the last one, but something tells me that’s not up my alley).
3.       Play Cards... Getting a good game of cards can always pass the time. Coach Higo and Curtis have some pretty good crib games, I watch from the sidelines, won’t tell you who I cheer for.
4.       Video Games... I’m AWESOME at Brick Breaker on my Blackberry. Danny Gayle’s going to try to beat my high score of 31,000, but good luck, good thing is he has a lot of miles to give it a shot. PSP’s are always going on the bus. Madden football, hockey, and the SOCOM’s are big, I’m currently playing Marvel Alliance 2.
5.       Homework... I’m out for this one; luckily it took me one crack to get my diploma. This is the part that makes junior hockey special. Seeing guys play hard against Spokane one night and then hitting the books on the bus the next is quit the sight to see.
6.       Sleep... This is a big one. There’s always someone sleeping. I’m not one of those people, but I don’t work as hard as these guys do.
These are just some of the things that you can imagine us doing on the bus over the next couple of days.
When you’re reading this ask yourself one question....
How would you pass the time?
