Today was a nice day in Everett.

First off it’s a typical northwest winter, which means a lot of rain. I spent a year living in Vancouver when I was younger, so I’m pretty used to it.
For a lot of people when they think of this area in the States they immediately think of Seattle. That’s deservingly so, because it’s a beautiful city with plenty to see and lots to do. It’s a place I’d love to see in the summer time, because I’m a huge baseball fan and have heard a Mariners game is a great experience.
However, if you ever make your way out here, I recommend staying in Everett.
The hotel we’re staying at is great... nice beds, friendly staff, it’s close to the rink, and easy to get on the freeway to head into Seattle if you want.
Last night we went out for supper at a great steak house that overlooked a marina. Friendly service and a delicious meal made for a great night.  The name escapes me at the moment, but I’m told that it’s one of many great restaurants in the area.
Every Canadian wants to go shopping when they’re south of the border and Everett accommodates those needs. We spent time today at one of the malls, which had a lot to offer. I won’t tell you what I purchased because I don’t want to ruin the surprises for the people I bought for.
Along with the Everett malls there’s the Seattle Outlet mall which is actually closer to Everett than Seattle. Last time we were here two years ago we spent a whole day there, and we’ll spend another day there on our off day this weekend.
Tonight the Warriors take on Seattle, who actually plays in Kent which is on the other side of Seattle. The T-Birds made the move out there last year, so this year will be my first time at their new barn and I’m interested to see it.
Saturday night the tribe plays here in Everett, which in my mind, is arguably one of the best rinks in the WHL.
It has a beautiful exterior, and the inside is decked out in Silvertips green. The last time we were here the atmosphere was electric. I wish Warrior fans could be here to see it because not only do they do a great job educating their fans about hockey, but they put on a spectacular show.
The Silvertips organization makes coming to a hockey game about more than just the hockey. That creates an unbelievable atmosphere, which is something I hope we’re able to create when we move into our new rink after next season.
Next time when you’re planning about a possible trip down south for a vacation... think of the Northwest, and think about Everett.
