Warriors double Raiders
The Moose Jaw Warriors returned from their Christmas break with a 6-3 win over the Prince Albert Raiders last night at the Civic Center. Quinton Howden led the Warriors with a goal and three points; Thomas Frazee scored two goals; Brendan Rowinski, Antonin Honejsek, and Kenndal McFaull scored one goal each; Jason Bast and Dylan had two assists each; Connor Cox, Kevin Smith, Nathan MacMaster, and Danny Gayle had one assist each; Jeff Bosch made 35 saves in the win. Colin Reddin, Brandon Herod, and Jordan Rowley scored for the Raiders; Garrett Zemlak made 24 saves in the loss. Moose Jaw was 2/5 on the power play and 2/3 on the penalty kill.

Tonight is the 5th meeting of the season between the Warriors and Prince Albert Raiders, and the second of three this week. Moose Jaw is 3-1 against the Raiders, going 2-0 at home and 1-1 on the road. The Warriors have outscored Prince Albert 20-15.

Hamonic Makes World Juniors
Moose Jaw Warriors Travis Hamonic was one of eight players from the WHL to be selected to team Canada for the 2010 World Junior Hockey Championships. Hamonic has ten goals and 39 points in 31 games this season with the Warriors. Among the players joining Hamonic include Regina Pats Colten Teubert and Jordan Eberle and Brandon Wheat King Brayden Schenn. Canada opens the preliminary round Boxing Day against Latvia.
 
Warriors to U17 Hockey Challenge
16 year old rookie forward Joey Kornelsen was named to Team Pacific for the upcoming World Under 17 Hockey Challenge in Timmins, Ontario December 29th to January 4th. Kornelsen is one of 17 players from Alberta and B.C. to be named to Team Pacific. 
 
 
Warriors Ranked in Central Scouting
Four Moose Jaw Warriors found their name on the NHL’s Central Scouting Fall Preliminary rankings of the 25 WHL players for the upcoming draft. Dylan McIlrath was ranked 7th, Quinton Howden 8th, Kendall McFaull was 17th, and Brandon Glover was 6th among goaltenders. Prince George Cougar Brett Connolly was the top ranked player, Edmonton Oil King Defenseman Mark Pysyk was 2nd, and Red Deer Rebel Alex Petrovic was 3rd.
 
Milestone Watch
-        Warriors Captain Jason Bast’s iron man streak came to an end earlier this season. Bast missed November 18th against Calgary due injury, which was the first game he’d missed since October 21st, 2006. Bast played in 228 consecutive games. He has played in 295 games with the Warriors. Bast is two goals shy of 100 for his career.
-        Travis Hamonic has played in 171 games with the Warriors.
