Warriors Fall to Tigers
The Moose Jaw Warriors dropped to 12-8 with a 3-2 loss last night to the Medicine Hat Tigers. Ryan Stanton and Jason Bast scored for the Warriors; Travis Hamonic, Brendan Rowinski, Quinton Howden, and Thomas Frazee picked up assists; Brandon Glover made 27 saves in the los. Emerson Etem, Taylor Gal, and Linden Vey scored for the Tigers; former Warrior Deven Dubyk made 27 saves to pick up the win. The Warriors were 1/5 on the power play and 6/8 on the penalty kill. The Warriors have had one goal hockey games in seven of the last eight games; they’re 3-4 in those one goal games.
v. Prince George
Tonight is the only meeting of the season between the Warriors and Prince George Cougars. Prince George won their only meeting last season 3-2 in overtime. The Warriors are 2-2-2 against the Cougars in the last five years; posting a 2-0 record at Moose Jaw.
Jason Bast, Riley Reinbolt, and Chad Suer had an assist each against Prince George last year, and lead Warrior returning scores; Travis Hamonic was pointless with five penalty minutes and was a -2; Ryan Stanton was pointless and was -3.
Brett Connolly leads returning Cougars scorers with one goal against the Warriors last season; Alex Poulter, Parker Stanfield, and Marcus Watson had one assist each.
Hamonic & Howden named to Team WHL
Moose Jaw Warriors Travis Hamonic and Quinton Howden have been named to Team WHL for the upcoming Subway Super Series. Both will play in the November 26th game in Kelowna, BC.
This is the second time that Hamonic will take part in the series. Hamonic goes into the weekend tied for scoring on the Warriors roster with seven goals and 20 points. Hamonic won an Under 18 gold medal last season at the Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament in the Czech Republic; he was taken part in the last two World Junior Summer Evaluation camps and attended last years World Junior camp.
This marks the first time that Howden will take part in the Super Series. Howden goes into the weekend 4th in Warriors scoring with seven goals and 16 points. Howden won an Under 18 gold medal this summer at the Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament in the Czech Republic.
This is the seventh straight year that the CHL’s best players have squared off against Team Russia in preparation of the World Junior Hockey Championships. The series is used by Hockey Canada in their evaluation process prior to their final selection camp in December. The series goes from November 16-26th across Canada, with games in Western Canada being played November 25th in Victoria, BC and November 26th in Kelowna, BC.
